After graduating from Slippery Rock University, I migrated south to Hatteras Island from Pittsburgh, PA. It wasn’t an unusual destination since I have spent my summers here since I was a toddler. As I grew, I learned more about the history and recreation of the area through campground and park ranger programs. As a teenager, I began to work in retail, restaurants, and real estate – the three R’s that are crucial to the economy of the area. My internships in Resort Recreation Management helped me learn the importance of customer service. I lived the experience of buying, building, and managing real estate through my family’s investments in apartments and rental cottages here on Hatteras Island.
